Gabe Kapler Promoted to Miami Marlins GM as Team Prepares for 2025 Offseason Moves – Miami Marlins have officially promoted Gabe Kapler to general manager, elevating him from his previous role as assistant GM. Kapler will now serve as the second-highest executive in baseball operations under Peter Bendix, president of baseball operations, as the team plans for key 2025 offseason moves.
The Marlins also announced additional front office promotions: Frankie Piliere is now vice president of amateur forecasting and player evaluation initiatives, while Vinesh Kanthan has been promoted to senior director of baseball operations.
“These leaders have made a real impact since joining our team, driving innovation, forward-thinking strategies, and teamwork,” Bendix said. “Their advancement reflects the talent and culture we are building at the Marlins.”
Kapler, 50, brings a wealth of experience both on and off the field. He played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball, including for the Tampa Bay Rays, and later managed the Philadelphia Phillies (2018-19) and San Francisco Giants (2020-23), achieving a career managerial record of 456-411. His 2021 Giants team won 107 games and the NL West title before falling in the NLDS to the Dodgers.

After several challenging seasons, the Marlins improved significantly in 2025, increasing their win total by 17 games compared to their 100-loss 2024 campaign. The team now faces important decisions, including the potential trade of ace pitcher Sandy Alcantara, as they aim to become a competitive force in the National League.
